Your Greatness with Dr. Ike
Posted on February 14th, 2010 7 commentsHello…thanks for taking a break and reading your “success moment”
with Lynn. This week it is my pleasure to have Dr. Ike as a guest on my blog.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~So here is Dr. IkeI recently had the privilege of hearing Dr. Tim Irwin speak at an event where I served as the Master of Ceremony/Speaker. Tim has interviewed over 10,000 people in his career as an organizational psychologist and as an international consultant. He made this amazing statement, “I have never interviewed or talked with anyone who did not have, at their core, a desire to be great.” His observation is that everyone is passionate about something and I would concur.
Each day most Americans get up and go to jobs where they have no passion. As a consequence, they will not achieve greatness. On average, they will spend 60-65% of their waking hours toiling at jobs where they have no sense of engagement. Gallup did a study a few years ago where they interviewed 1.7 million workers representing 77,000 companies and/or divisions. They asked the question, “Are you engaged in your job?” The response was startling in the level of honesty and the state of affairs in American business:
- 55% felt no degree of engagement or sense of passion for their jobs.
- 16% responded that not only were they not engaged in their jobs, they described themselves as actively disengaged. Jim Collins, author of Good to Great, calls these people, OBT – On-Board Terrorists. They work for you but they are attempting to blow up the company by disrupting the culture of the organization.
Add up the two statistics and you get a 71% disconnect rate – meaning that only 29% of workers have any degree of passion for their jobs. It is impossible to have greatness when your passion is at room temperature.
So, how can you be great at your job?
- Find the work where your skills and the world’s needs intersect and you will find passion.
- If you are in job that you do not like, do your best work anyway and your day will come.
- Being great in your work means that you have discovered meaning in the work that you do each day.
- Focus on the meaning of your work and you will operate at your highest and best rather than your lowest and least.
- Being great at your job happens when you become more concerned about your contributions rather than your rewards.
If you are an employer, remember: People will work harder for meaning than they ever will for money!

I want to bring to your attention a free program that Darren Hardy the Publisher of Success Magazine is offering to you.
Darren is a massive success in his own life. And Darren wants to share a program that other people pay him thousands of dollars to help them design their own future.
I personally do not get a dime or penny from Darren for this promotion, but I know how powerful it is and how it can change your life and change your future. And It Is FREE!
Most people never plan for the success in life or the future. The fact is most people put more preparation and plans into the details of a vacation than they do their future.
Now, if you are serious about your success and your future….and I know you are, because you are reading this. I encourage you to sign up for Darren’s “Designing the best 10 years of your life” now!
Get you a three ring notebook, some three hole paper, print the documents, and start to do the work as Darren sends you the worksheets in a download by e-mail. You will not be pressured to buy other products from him.
One important thing…once this is over in the weeks to come…you will never see the files and documents offered again
for free. This is such an important part of your life…don’t take it lightly.
I wish you success on your journey…..and I’ll see you along the way!

Reborn For Success In The New Year!
Posted on December 19th, 2009 3 commentsReborn For Success In The New Year!

As we see the end of a new year let’s take a moment to look back and reflect over the past 12 months.
Was the past 12 months a busy time for you? Was the past 12 months rewarding or was it a tough time for you in your business? Did you keep your job?
Did you have some health issues in your family as I did? Did you lose any faith or trust for the government and the Whitehouse?
I only hope that the past year was very good to you and I also hope that you will create and achieve massive success in the next 12 months.
The great thing about a New Year is that we can all look at the New Year as fresh and have excitement for the New Year. A new year marks a new beginning for dreams and goals.
Friends Gone.
As I reflect I think about the people and old friends that died over the last 12 months. We lost a great man and a pioneer in the Personal Development Field, Mr. Jim Rohn. Jim Rohn’s work and words helped so many people find massive success in their own business and in their lives. I lost some friends that I’ve known for years and years in the past few months.
If we live long enough we will see our friends leave us as time goes by. That is only a fact of life that we must deal with.
I’ve heard people say that we should live like we were dying. And I’ve had people ask; what would you do if you only had 6 months to live? All good things to ponder on and reflect about… it may make you a better person. It may help you to think about some of the things you didn’t do or the things you need to do.
I’m sure it was Mark Twain who said; we regret all the things we didn’t do more that the things we did.
Now, I like to ask the people I coach and mentor this question. What would you do if you knew you had a new life, a new beginning and a clean slate to create the life you want and deserve?
You have that new day today if you choose! No need for regret! No need to think about all the things that you’re not doing.
Start today to think about all the things you plan to do starting in the New Year. Forget all the things you tried to do or the things you intended to do in the past and make plans for your NEW LIFE!
Most important.
Inertia is the best way to live a life of regret. You must take ACTION on all you ideas, intentions and goals to continue to move forward. Find that person that will hold you accountable and keep you on task. Those people (Mastermind Group) that will help guarantee you to create that massive success and find your true greatness for years to come.
Happy New Year!!!
Let’s meet 12 months from now and reflect again on the things we made happen…without regret!

Christmas & Toastmasters International
Posted on December 5th, 2009 7 commentsI remember a long time ago in a Toastmasters meeting I made a mistake.
Toastmasters International?
Toastmasters International is an organization that helps people to speak in public. Public speaking is a great fear most people have, next to death. So, you could say that most people would prefer being in the casket at the funeral than speaking at it.
At this meeting I was appointed the Table Topics Master for the night. I always loved that task, mostly because it would break things up and it would always bring out the good stories and the creative side of all the speakers involved.
The Table Topics Master is in charge of the portion of the meeting that concentrates on speaking off the cuff. My job was to pick a topic and ask a member to give a talk for 2 minutes on that subject. We had enough members to ask 3 people per meeting to speak on table topics.
This meeting was the last meeting of the year and it was a few days before Christmas, so I thought I would stay with the theme and do topics around that subject.
I looked around the room at all the members I could call on. I picked Ernie. Ernie was a cool cat with a New York way of speaking. He was in sales and was a good speaker.
I looked at Ernie and motioned for him to come up to the lectern and then I asked him to tell us all about a special Christmas he had when he was a kid. He smiled and walked up beside me and I walked away and waited for a great 2 minute speech.
Ernie takes a deep breath and looks at me and he starts to speak. “Well…….I never had a Christmas with my family.” I thought oh no! I’m going to feel bad about this. All the other members looked and listened to find out more. Then He said; “I never celebrated Christmas with my family because…..I’m Jewish.” I can still see his big old smile. “I did have Christmas sort of. I would go to my friend’s house and enjoy Christmas Day with them. I also had Hanukah at my house.”
Ernie did a great job and finished his 2 minutes without missing a step. And he made me look like a winner. I’ve lost touch with old Ernie some years ago. I hope to laugh about that meeting again with him one day!
My Lesson:
So, what did I learn from that other than Ernie was Jewish and never celebrated Christmas with his family?
1 – Never assume that you know people until you really know them.
*** That is one communication and success tip that will take you far in business and in your relationships of any sort.

Merry Christmas to you all!
Happy Hanukah, Ernie!

Think For Success
Posted on November 24th, 2009 10 commentsOver the years I’ve read some amazing books by some very amazing people. I look at my life at times and take notice of the habits I’ve picked up because of the positive influence they had on me.
I implemented a habit years ago when I was young but I didn’t know the power of it until I read Brian Tracy and later John Maxwell.
The habit is to find some down time to think. I’ve always done this from the time I was a kid. When I was very young I would go to the woods and wonder around and stand in the stillness. But the thinking wasn’t organized the way it is today. Well….most of the time.
Your place to think never has to be ordinary.

Some successful people I know get comfortable in a dark room and just think and wait for an answer to a question they are thinking about.
You can also find other very successful people that do their best thinking in a small crowd of people like a coffee shop or restaurant. J. K. Rowling,, author of the “Harry Potter” books did some of her best work in a cafe’ and coffee shop. Some people need to have that little distraction to stimulate the thinking process.
It may not be important where your thinking place is as long as you get to really think.
Thanks.
