When toughing through an open water swim in a triathlon drafting allows you to let your main potential competitor expend more energy in the swim portion saving you for the bike. Competitive athletes recognize talent in each other. If you draft on me for the swim, you'd better expect me to draft on you for the bike. We will synergistically each exceed our personal goals because we inadvertently help each other through drafting.
