Your A-Team & Success
Posted on November 5th, 2009 6 commentsDo you have your A-Team together?
Why you need an A-Team?
Your A-Team will help you improve your efforts and effectiveness toward your goals, time management, personal development and success in general.
Taking your A-Game and building your A-Team will help you in many ways. The benefits are tremendous.
- 1. You will free up so much time and make more decisions quickly.
- 2. You’ll streamline your days and feel unstoppable.
- 3. You will create that life of less stress and more peace of mind.
- 4. You will create that high energy life style that you need in this busy world.
- 5. You will learn, stretch, grow and contribute more in your life.
- 6. You will begin to grow your business or career to the next level.
- 7. You will enjoy your life at a much higher level.
Like most things the start will be the hardest part of building your A-Team. When you take a quick look around at your life you will see that you already have some of your A-Team in place.
The key will be to have people on your A-Team that you have rapport with and that you can trust. The people you place on the A-Team will be key people and will help you successfully reaching many of your goals.
When you have key people that you can count on to exchange ideas, plans and money your A-Team will start to give you many benefits. The Law of Reciprocation in action.
Who should be on your A-Team?
Here is a list of key people that you need to have on your A-Team in no particular order.
- Mastermind Team -> This group of people will be critical to your A-Team.
- Doctors -> That you can count on.
- Lawyer -> That you can count on.
- Spouse -> Get this person on your team and you’re 90% successful.
- Mentors -> You will need to seek out the people that have the knowledge.
- Spiritual -> Teacher, Leader or Group that works for you.
- Physical -> Get people that like to be healthy on your A-Team.
- Co-workers/Employees
- Education -> Add people that will challenge you to grow and to think.
- Friends /Family -> No need to say much here…right?
- Mechanic -> Yes….the mechanic that you count on.
- Restaurants -> Why not? I have restaurants on my A-Team that treat me great.
Think about building your A-Team and the people you need on it. If you have a person on your A-Team that is not effective or efficient replace them now.

True Warriors
Posted on October 25th, 2009 11 commentsWhat is a true warrior?
A warrior will step into action for a cause or a dream.
A warrior is always looking to the future for the well being of generations to come.
A warrior leaves a legacy for others to follow.
A warrior knows that relationships are valued.
A warrior has honor.
A warrior has a plan and takes action.
A warrior will work hard on their strengths to fortify the mission.
All of these attributes are what makes a warrior. They can all be transitioned into the workplace in your business and in life as a whole.
Just thought I’d post this video of the American Warrior, I have tremendous pride and appreciation for them all.
“Every country on the planet owes America!”

You Are A Leader!
Posted on October 18th, 2009 10 commentsSome people say, but I’m not in a leadership role. I say, yes you are. Makes no difference where you are in life or what your vocation is, you are a leader. I promise you this, if you adjust your thinking and apply the leadership insights and fundamentals you will be amazed at the positive changes it brings to your life and business. Here are just three important fundamentals.
Leaders Connect With People.
True leaders know the people that work for them. They share in their joy and in their pain or sadness. A leader knows about their people first hand and not by rumors or gossip. A true leader is engaged in the process of training a new employee or client. A true leader cares about people! If you can’t make that connection with people you need to learn how.
Example- I drive about 30 miles to my dry cleaners because they make that personal connection with me. I could find the cleaners that was closer and could be cheaper, but I don’t care. I drive the extra miles because; they go the extra mile when serving me.
Leaders Have Discipline.
“The price of discipline is always less than the price of regret.” Nino Quibien.
Leaders know this to be true. Leaders hold themselves to a higher standard. Leaders enjoy life and people by living in that disciplined zone.
Leadership is about doing what is right and no doing what is easy. Leaders know it’s not easy to deal with difficult problems, but they do it. It may not be easy to work on you and commit to growing and stretching yourself, but leaders do it.
At times it may be hard to give and see others get the credit and not receive it yourself, but leaders do it.
Leaders Like To Learn.
Don’t make the mistake of falling in love with you. Always fall in love with loving to learn and grow.
We need to be leaders not only in our own businesses. We need to be leaders in our families, schools, jobs and in life.
*Connect With People
*Go The Extra Mile
*Have Discipline
You Are A Leader!

Success Drafting.
Posted on October 4th, 2009 12 commentsAre You Ready For Success?
North Carolina is known for many things including NASCAR. I grew up watching NASCAR until they got so commercial and forgot the small tracks and towns that helped make them a rich organization.
Watching NASCAR, I did learn some things about team work, tenacity and one important tactic called drafting.
Drafting was discovered by stock car racers in the 1959 Daytona 500. Drivers found they picked up speed running closely behind other cars, and as they experimented they found that a line of cars could sustain higher speeds than a single car running by itself.
I also learned about drafting from my Dad. My Dad drove a Tractor Trailer (18 Wheeler) for over 24 years. He was a very hard worker and was an excellent driver. When we would go on trips, long or short trips I would learn so much from his driving skills.
Success Drafting
We can use this idea in success and personal development. Success Drafting can be applied by following along behind the most successful people you know. As you build your momentum you will be able to maintain that momentum by following in their draft. And as we gain in our efforts and actions we will start to notice that the successful person we follow will keep us in that forward draft of motion.
We operate much better in that draft than we do on our own.
When we draft success we conserve our energy, learn the best directions to travel and we can avoid the accidents that are on the track to success and personal development.
Find that Winner to Success Draft with and I’ll see you in the Winner’s Circle.

Never Quit?
Posted on September 24th, 2009 10 commentsWhen Should You Quit?
So many people are on the verge of quitting…..quitting their job, marriage, business, exercising and smoking etc.
For most people quitting will be very easy, but for others to quit means to fail or lose.
I’ve been playing guitar since I was about 10 years old or I should say I got my first Guitar at 10 years old. It was a Silverstone electric that came from Sears. My Dad knew how bad I wanted that guitar.
I remember how bad I wanted to learn to play that guitar and why I wanted to learn.
I was 10 years old when I noticed a friend of mine Jeff walking across the playground with girls all around him. I went to see what all the commotion was about. That was the moment I knew I wanted a guitar because my friend Jeff had a guitar in his hand. He had the guitar that day to share with the class.
That Christmas I got mine. I would try to play that thing and got so frustrated I would put it in the closet and not touch it for months on end. Then months turned into years. After I got married I picked it up again and I got myself a better guitar. I would spend 30 to 60 minutes every afternoon. I was still frustrated and wanted to quit again, but I disciplined myself to keep going.
One afternoon I reached over picked up my guitar and music just started to flow with ease. It was as if some other person stepped into my body and started to play. I was amazed to say the least. That happened because I never really quit and I decided to work at it until I learned to play.
Like most people I’ve had so many things in my life I could have quit because of stress or pressure or because I didn’t get the breaks I felt I should have.
I read a study once that said for every 100 adult students that start on the road to a black belt in the martial arts only 2 students on average will ever get that black belt.
Why do so any people quit in the midst of working toward a desirable goal? I think for the most part….because they can’t see the long term effect or benefits of the short term pain of doing the hard work.
“Once you learn to quit, it becomes a habit.” Vince Lombardi
At times we could just change our approach or make a small adjustment and keep moving forward to create that end result that we desire.
A marathon runner never quits at the23 – 25 mile mark, but if you check the facts I bet you would see most runners that quit will do so around the 15 – 18 mile marker.
“If you are going to go through hell, keep going.” Winston Churchill
My friend Rob Northrup once said, “Never set a goal you don’t intend to reach.” I agree, why waste your time and energy?
When should we quit?
When you are not willing to pay the price through hard work.
When you and others get hurt.
When you fail to contribute to others.
Don’t quit when the tide is lowest,
For it’s just about to turn;
Don’t Quit over doubts and questions,
For there’s something you may learn.
Don’t quit when the night is darkest,
For it’s just a while ’til dawn;
Don’t quit when you’ve run the farthest,
For the race is almost won.
Don’t quit when the hill is steepest,
For your goal is almost nigh;
Don’t quit, for you’re not a failure
Until you fail to try.~ Author unknown~
