A Quitter Never Wins
Posted on June 15th, 2009 10 commentsA Quitter Never……..
Have you ever had a bad day?
A day when all you want to do is just throw your hands up and say to the universe, I quit!
Enough! I’ve had it! I give up!
Sure you have and so have I. I have to confess that about every few months I have some of those days.
I was in that mood today until I picked up a book on my desk and as it opened I read a quote that said, “A quitter never wins….and a winner never quits.”
Most people think I never have a down day because I’m the one that tries to help people feel good or motivated and inspired about who they are.
I have those days when I just want to shut myself off and take a long break.
I also think that we need to have the down time, “I don’t feel like it” time and the “I don’t care today” time. It’s part of our personality and out nature.
The key is not to stay there. I learned a long time ago that we should set a time limit on how long we are going to stay in that state of mind.
That choice will keep you on track to move forward into a new state of mind. A state of mind that will benefit you and your successful journey through life!
Enjoy the journey!

Hey Lynn, I was having one of those days today. I started getting sick on thursday and fought through it over the weekend while i had my son with me. then today it hit me and i just quit. i didn’t go to work and i spent the day feeling miserable and tired. Then about three hours ago i decided enough was enough and i posted to my blog and started reading your post. Job well done… you made me feel better about my actions.

HI Lynn,
Yep! I have days like that all the time! But someone shared with me that if you just take a step back and focus on the long term…whats happening in the moment has very little effect on what the long term will be like and that generally deals with it for me

We all have those days and you are right about giving ourselves permission to get into it for a while and then dropping it. I mentioned something similar in my last post. We are humans and should not repress or deny the things that arise.
Someone very wise and very successful told me once that sometimes when you feel like staying in bed and pulling the covers up over your head, you should do just that! Stay in bed and pull the damned covers up over your head until you are done with it. But like you said, give yourself a time limit.

Great, and oh-so-true post — “a quitter never wins and a winner never quits”.

Reminds me of the wonderful never never never give up quote from Winston Churchill.
indeed, if we give up and quit, there is no way to cross the finish line of victory.
Great website and blog post!

Every now and then we need to embrace those down days, but I like your idea of setting a time limit on how long we stay at our own “Pity Parties.” Great advice – A quitter never wins…and a winner never quits.
